How should you maintain your curtains?

Curtains can add a unique element to your home, can transform your space and make your place look bigger or cosier, and enhance your decor. It can practically block out all the lighting outside, maintain cool interior, and manage privacy from externals. We all love a good set of curtains.

There are many ways to clean your curtains but the right way to clean them is right under your nose. Check the label for the correct washing method. Some curtains are machine washable and some can be dry cleaned and others can be steamed. We find the safetest way to clean your curtains is to wash them with your hands.

To wash your curtains by hand, the easiest and cheapest method is to use soap or detergent that is formulated to wash delicate materials such as lace or silk. Place a small concentration of the detergent according to instructions into cold water. Please do not use brushes or cleaning tools as these tools may damage your curtains. Use your hands the old fashioned way and follow up by rinsing. for the best results, it is recommended to air dry immediately. The best conditions for air drying is a nice warm or sunny day with a slight breeze.

How to size your curtains?

When you find curtains you love, you don’t want too much length to get in the way. Dependent on how full you want your curtains to be, as a general rule of thumb, most curtains should be at least 2 times the width of your window. If you want more fullness, opt for 3 times the width of your window. Next is the lengths issue.
